Claiming and collecting PBS for someone else
Can I collect a PBS refund for someone else?
Yes—you can collect a PBS refund from Medicare for someone else. You need to bring:
- the official PBS refund receipt/s from the pharmacist (not the docket)
- PBS Patient Claim for refund form—you can get one by asking at the counter at Medicare, or by calling 132 290. You have to get the patient/claimant to sign the form which authorises you to collect the refund for them.
Can I collect PBS medicine from a pharmacy for someone else?
Yes—you are allowed to collect medicine for someone else. You will need to give the pharmacist:
- the person's Medicare card details
- the person's current concession and/or DVA health card details if they have one
- the person’s PBS Safety Net entitlement or concession card details if they have one.
You will need to sign as an agent to confirm that you have received the PBS medicine on their behalf.
If you are not able to show these details you may have to pay full price for the medicine.
